PALO VERDE ARTIST OF THE MONTH
By Mary Stewart, President
Terilynn Nieman is a native of Portland, Oregon, and has been painting since 1980 in oils, pastels, acrylics, and, most recently, watercolors.
She loves to paint and says she “loses herself for hours creating beauty in her own world.” When Terilynn studied with her first teacher, she learned how to create clouds, seascapes, flowers, water, and mountains. With her next instructor, Ms. Neiman studied animals, and faces, learning the fine detail work.
She has taken classes with many instructors from Sun City with great results. Terilynn’s favorite subject is any form of water in seascapes and landscapes; however, she is now pursuing desert and high-country landscapes. Her range of interests is diversified, as she does not want to be locked into a certain subject or style of painting. “Animals and people are also subjects of interest and a challenge,” she states.
She was a member of the Portland Oregon Fine Arts Society until moving to Sun City and had her work displayed in Oregon art galleries and has participated in various art shows in Oregon. She also was a member of the Northeastern Arizona Fine Arts Association in Pinetop, AZ, from 2005 to 2009 and displayed in local shows and competitions during the summers and also in Sun City Shows; she has been a member of the Palo Verde Artists since 2002 and is a past Vice President and Showcase Chairman of the club. She is a past member and was club treasurer of the Lakeview Artists by the Lake in Sun City.
