Composition
Working in either
Watercolor or Colored Pencil
Instructor – Ruth Glenn Little
The focus of this class is an introduction and exploration of the elements of composition in paintings with a choice of watercolor or colored pencil.
A composition booklet on fundamentals by Ruth Glenn Little is available for $12.
Basic supply List
- Sketch book
- Photos for personal study of composition
- Pencils & pencil sharpener OR mechanical pencils
- Kneaded eraser
- Tough Stuff eraser or battery-operated eraser
- Clear plastic graph ruler 6” or 12”
- Tablet of tracing paper
Supplies specific for choice of watercolor
- Palette –basic colors of Yellow Q. Red and Phthalo Blue r/s plus any colors of choice.
- Brushes round Silver Black Velvet #16 & #10 & a ½” flat
- Low plastic multi division water container
- Homosote Board 12×16”
- Stapler
- Student grade watercolor tablet to explore color and brush strokes
- 1 sheet 22×30 Arches 140 lb. watercolor paper for final renderings
- Old light color bath towel
- Extra terry cloth rags
Supplies specific for colored pencil
- A set of Prisma or Derwent Colored Pencils in sets of 72 / 132 0r 150
- Clear Prisma Blender
- Battery operated pencil sharpener
- A multi-purpose drawing pad
- 1 sheet of 22×30 Stonehenge white paper
- A large makeup brush
- A small container of Gamsol or mineral spirits for blending
- A drawing board
